KUCHING: An agreement t o upgrade facilities wi thin the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) compound was signed between the Malaysian Government and Syarikat Lien Dak Development Sdn Bhd yesterday.
Based on the agreement, Lien Dak Development Sdn Bhd will construct a disabled-friendly covered linkway to connect all the major blocks in the hospital compound.
The company will also upgrade the car parking area by constructing an additional 34 parking spaces, reinforce the concrete retention drains, build two new gates with guard houses and const ruct a new access road. When completed, Sarawak General Hospital will connect to Unimas Medical Campus through a road built on top of a monsoon drain.
“ T h e U n ima s Me d i c a l Campus i s open to student s f r om t h e Un ima s Me d i c a l Facul ty and they can eas i l y walk to the Sarawak General Hospital,” said Stephen Wong, the Executive Chairman of Lien Dak Group of Companies at the signing ceremony here yesterday. He said the linkway is a proper pedestrian walkway which will cater to the disabled-friendly, including the blind, the elderly and other users.
The new road a c c e s s , t o be cons t ructed towards the direction of Unimas Medical Campus, will ease traffic flow. Signing the agreement on behalf of the government yesterday was the Director of SGH, Dr Chin Zin Hing, while Lien Dak Sdn Bhd was represented by Stephen Wong. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Ministry of He a l th S e c r e t a r y -Gene r a l , Datuk Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min.
