KUCHING: The use of QR codes (Quick Respond codes) on water tanks will enable the authority to track the distribution of water tanks to rural areas, said State Utilities Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Alice Jawan Empaling.
She said the QR codes on the tanks would offer more efficient tracking for its implementing agency, Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to trace the water tank’s exact location.
“With QR codes, we will know where the tank is, at any time.” she said during the inspection of the water tanks at Sejingkat on Sunday.
Such innovation, besides being part of efforts towards digitalisation, would enable JBALB to identify the rightful ownership of the tank.
“It is also for us to know the exact quantity of the tanks when it has been delivered to the recipient and the status of the registration, who is the rightful recipient, so that the tank would not go missing.
“If it goes ‘missing’ we will be able to know because we have the QR code,” she added.
