MIRI: A 21-year-old local man was arrested on Friday evening for allegedly stealing chocolates worth RM39.70 at a grocery store in Jalan Padang Kerbau.

The suspect was found tied on a lamp post nearby to the store when the police came and brought him to the police station for questioning.

Before the incident, around 5.20pm, the suspect was spotted behaving suspiciously inside the grocery store before taking off with some chocolates that he had placed inside his bag before walking out off the premise.

The suspect was then nabbed by several staff members upon leaving the premise and was tied up on the lamp post with a piece of cardboard box around his neck that read, “I’m a thief.”
