KUCHING: The Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 5.0 shows that the Sarawak government has the people’s interests at heart, says Datuk Peter Minos.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed on Thursday (Jan 21) that the state government would allocate RM405mil for BKSS 5.0, with 11 measures that would be continued from January to June.
Minos, who is the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman, said it was evident that the state government was aware of the economic plight faced by many Sarawakians.
“I can see that our Chief Minister and the state government are going all out to help those who are affected economically by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is truly commendable and most welcomed.
“Those adversely affected by the pandemic have been praying and hoping for the government to step in.”
He pointed out that the 11 measures costing the state government RM405mil were worth the expenditure.
“I come from the rural district of Bau and I know the quiet pitiful cries of ordinary folk pained and hit by the pandemic. It is the same here in Kota Samarahan District.
“This assistance will bring much relief and even some smiles. Anything from the state government in any form or way in this hour of dire need is very timely and greatly valued.”
He added that the lowering of any rental assessment, cost of permits, licence or premium imposed by the government was definitely welcomed by all.
