KUCHING: Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is among the companies actively encouraging the community to practise recycling.
By introducing the ‘Wise Up to Waste and School Solid Waste Segregation Education Programme’ in schools early this year, Trienekens remains committed to continuing the collection of recycled materials even though schools are not yet fully operational.
“The programme is still ongoing in compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOP),” Trienekens said in a statement.
As one of the efforts to educate young people on the importance of proper solid waste management and environmental protection, Trienekens held awareness talks last year at SMK St Joseph, St Joseph International School, SK Garland and SJKC Chung Hua Pangkalan Baru.

To further encourage interest and cultivate student awareness on recycling practices, these schools also held competitions or side activities.
SK Garland held a recycling contest between classes while SJKC Chung Hua Pangkalan Baru organised an eco-flower pots competition, among others.

“All teachers and students showed high commitment in solid waste management and recycling practices even though we are still dealing with Covid-19.
“Congratulations to all schools! Thank you for your dedication and commitment in our programme,” said Trienekens.
“Recycling not only benefits the environment but also has a positive effect on the economy. So, let us together practise recycling for the common good!”
