BAU: Three illegal immigrants were detained in an ‘Ops Benteng’ operation on Monday (Jan 25).
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the operation involving seven personnel from the district’s CID team took place in Jalan Johari Shunchar here.
The team detained three Indonesian men who did not have any legal travel document. All of them were later deported.
DSP Poge said the operation was not just aimed at preventing crime but also detecting and preventing the entry of illegal immigrants into the country.
Such operations would be carried out in the future and the Bau community has been urged to cooperate with the police in combating crime.
“Peace and harmony can be achieved with the cooperation from all parties in the district.”
