KUCHING: A 41-year-old local woman was the latest Covid-19 fatality case in the state today (Jan 30), bringing the total number of deaths to 37 cases.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the fatality, identified as Case 3,956 from Song District, sought emergency medical assistance at Kapit Hospital on Jan 23 after being referred by a health clinic.
“She was admitted to the Kapit Hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties and her rT-PCR test result came back positive for the virus.
“Her health deteriorated rapidly and she was pronounced dead the same day,” SDMC said in a daily Covid-19 update statement.
The case was a person with special needs (OKU) who also had other comorbidities such as high blood pressure, asthma and obesity.
SDMC extended its condolences to the family members of the victim.
Meanwhile, SDMC said that the Covid-19 zone status for Asajaya district in Samarahan division has returned to green after there was no report of local infection cases in the last 14 days.
“But Matu and Daro districts have changed from green to yellow zone after a total of 13 cases of local infection were recorded in these two districts in the last 14 days,” it said.
SDMC said Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Beluru, Miri, Sibu and Kuching districts remained as red zones as a total of 1,920 cases of local infections were reported in these respective districts in the last 14 days.
“Kapit, Sarikei, Subis and Betong districts also remained as orange zones, with 114 cases of local infections reported in the last 14 days,” it said.
SDMC said Lundu, Sebauh, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Bau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman districts remained as yellow zones with a total of 121 cases of local infections reported in the last 14 days.
“Nine other districts remain as green zones. Besides Asajaya, the others are Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi,” it said.
