KUCHING: The support from the state government has eased the burden of the Chinese community, said the Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
Recently, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg allocated RM10 million for 14 Chinese private schools.
“The Chinese community places great emphasis on the development of education.
“The support given by the Chief Minister proves that the Sarawak government is very concerned about the education of those in Chinese private schools,” he said.
He also stated that the state government was the first state to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and provide continuous allocation to Chinese private secondary schools in Sarawak.
“Ming Lik Secondary School is one of the 12 private Chinese secondary schools in Repok, to receive the allocation.
“On behalf of the school, I would like to thank the Chief Minister for his efforts,” he said.
He stated that Sarawak leaders were concerned about the development of education and the development of multiracial culture. Thus, all schools — secondary, primary or private — have received due allocations and attention.
“The Chief Minister is an authoritative leader and we need his leadership to enjoy political and economic stability as well as improve the living standards of Sarawakians,” added Huang.
