SIBU: Residents of Sibu Jaya who are symptomatic or have been in close contact with positive Covid-19 cases are urged to undergo screening.
Sibu Division Health officer Dr Teh Jo Hun when contacted today said for those who do not have symptoms, they are advised to stay at home.
“Please undergo screening if you have symptoms or have had contact with those who have been tested positive for Covid-19.
“For those who volunteer to undergo testing, there is nothing stopping them from doing so as it is up to them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Teh said the large-scale Covid-19 screening was a one-day programme conducted by the Health Ministry (MOH) at the Sibu Jaya market today.
A target of 2,000 samples was set and according to Dr Teh, the number of residents who turned up for the screening was very encouraging.
He said that the screening was conducted by 30 MOH staff from Sibu assisted by support teams from Sarikei and Samarahan from 9am to 1pm.
The large-scale screening was held following the increase in positive Covid-19 cases in Sibu Jaya.
Previously, the Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) expressed its concern over the increase in positive cases in Sibu.
