MIRI: No drone was utilised to monitor the public during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) here, says 1st Division commander Dato Dzulkafli Mustaffa.
“At the moment, there’s no urgency to deploy drones to monitor the public’s movement during CMCO in this district,” he said today.
Dzulkifli was met during his brief visits to two roadblocks in Miri – one in front of SMK Agama and one in Lambir.
He was asked earlier by the press if the army were going to utilise drones just as they did in Sibu.
In Sibu, the army deployed drones not only to monitor movements but also make crucial announcements to remind the public to stay at home.
One hundred personnel from the 20th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (20RAMD), Camp Sri Miri, have been deployed to assist the police in manning four roadblocks in the district.
“What I’ve observed, they (public) are complying with the CMCO SOPs…and so far, we have no problem,” said Dzulkifli.
During the visit, he was accompanied by 20RAMD commanding officer Lt-Col Rozaid Dato Badrulzaman and 20RAMD deputy CO Maj Azllan Zainul Abidin.
