KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 148 new positive Covid-19 cases today, bringing the state’s tally to 4,824.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 48 of these cases were from Sibu, Bintulu and Dalat (15 each), Beluru (14), Miri (12), Kapit and Kanowit — eight each, Sebauh and Song (seven cases each), Sri Aman (five), Bau (three), while Kuching, Lundu, Tatau, Subis, Selangau and Sarikei recorded one case respectively.
“Of the 48 cases in Sibu district, 16 were individuals screened through active case detection (ACD), 14 were symptomatic individuals screened at health centres, ten were other screenings at health centres, six involved the Pasai Cluster and two involved screening of health workers in Sibu district,” SDMC said in a statement today.
The 15 cases reported in Bintulu district comprised six cases from screenings at health centres, three involving the Rakut Cluster, two individuals screened through ACD, two symptomatic individuals screened at health centres, one involving the Pasai Cluster and a local who had returned from Pahang (categorised as Import B).
“For the 15 cases in Dalat district, ten were individuals screened in Covid-19 infection risk areas in Dalat district while five cases involved the Pasai Cluster,” it said.
Meanwhile, the 14 cases recorded in Beluru district consisted of 13 cases linked to the Pasai Cluster and one involving the Rakut Cluster.
“Twelve cases were recorded in Miri district, of which four were individuals screened through ACD, four were screenings at health centres, two involved screening of health workers in Miri district, one involved the Pasai Cluster and one was a symptomatic individual screened at a health centre,” said the committee.
SDMC said all eight cases reported in Kapit district were linked to the Pasai Cluster.
“As for the eight cases reported in Kanowit district, seven involved the Pasai Cluster while one case was an individual screened through ACD.”
Of the seven cases in Sebauh District, five involved the Pasai Cluster while the other two involved the Bukit Sekubong Cluster.
Meanwhile, the seven cases in Song district consisted of five individuals screened through ACD and two cases linked to the Pasai Cluster.
Five cases were recorded in Sri Aman district, involving individuals screened via ACD.
The committee said the three cases in Bau district involved the Tabong Cluster while the single case reported in Lundu district involved the Pasai Cluster.
The single case each reported in the districts of Kuching and Tatau were individuals screened through ACD while the cases reported in the districts of Selangau, Sarikei and Subis involved symptomatic individuals screened at health centres in the respective districts.
