TATAU: A temporary evacuation centre at Tatau Sports Hall was closed at 2pm today (Feb 6) and all victims were allowed to return to their homes after floodwaters receded.

The relief centre was opened on Feb 3 after villagers’ homes in Kampung Dagang were inundated by one-foot floodwaters.

According to Tatau District officer Barayan Lenya, a total of eight people from two families were evacuated and moved to the centre since Feb 3.

Also present at the relief centre and helping the evacuees packing their belongings were Tatau District administrative officer Calvin Ligong and Tatau fìre and rescue fire station (Bomba) chief Jankey Jikat.

The relief centre was opened at 9.45am on Feb 3 on the advice of the police, Bomba, and Civil Defence Force (APM).
