MIRI: Three elderly men were among eight individuals detained by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel for allegedly involved in illegal gambling (Holo) at an unnumbered house in Simpang Ngu, Batu Niah.

In the raid conducted under ‘Ops Limau’ today, police also seized cash amounting to RM430, one ‘holo’ stainless bowl, three dices and a piece of cloth adorned with animal images.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said three of those arrested were Indonesian nationals.

All the suspects aged between 22 and 77 years were remanded at Miri Centre police station (CPS) to facilitate investigations under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
