KUCHING: More than 800 graduates from the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (PPKS) will receive their scrolls in the upcoming 23rd convocation ceremony next month.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will be officiating at the special session on March 8 at i-CATS University College for the conferment of certificates, diplomas and bachelor’s degrees.
The chief minister will also be presenting industry awards to selected graduates on that day.
Sarawak Skills’ executive director, Hallman Sabri said that various convocation sessions would be held at Sarawak Skills Centre, Tabuan Jaya here between March 9 and 18.
“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to safeguard the interests as well as well-being of our graduates, staff members and stakeholders, various convocation sessions will be held.
“Separate sessions will also be held for our graduates in Miri on March 22 to 24 and in Mukah on March 29 to 30. Most graduates will observe the ceremony live through Sarawak Skills’ social media platform,” he explained.
There is much to celebrate, particularly in welcoming the chief minister as the first chancellor of i-CATS University College.
“There is indeed much to celebrate, especially with the many graduates from various academic and skills programmes who have completed their studies at the certificate, diploma and bachelor’s degree levels.
“We will also be welcoming our chief minister as the first chancellor and for him to officially launch i-CATS University College,” he added.
