KUCHING: The Sarawak government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is committed to the rural development agenda.
Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said this was to ensure that all areas in the state, including his constituency, receive balanced development.
“Since development projects such as the Rural Transformation Programme and Minor Rural Project were introduced, many rural areas in the state have developed.
“This is the intention and purpose of the rural development project introduced by former chief minister, the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, in seeing balanced rural and urban development.
“More significantly, the Sarawak government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has continued the agenda by allocating more than 70 per cent of the total budget for rural development,” he said during the handover of the upgraded futsal court at Taman Sepakat Jaya costing RM50,000 recently.
On a separate note, Dr Hazland urged his constituents to not take the facilities provided for granted.
“Appreciate and take care of the facilities so that everyone can continue to enjoy them.
“For instance, facilities such as futsal court, sepak takraw court, multipurpose hall and so on are built for the purpose of recreational and healthy activities.
“Apart from that, the people can use these facilities to hone their skills and talents, subsequently shaping a healthy community.”.
