KUCHING: Registration is now open to Sarawakians who want to get the free Covid-19 vaccination.
“People can now register for the free vaccination through the MySejahtera application on their smartphones,” said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.
He said this after visiting the lockdown operation centres at Kampung Sungai Maong and Taman Univista in Kota Samarahan today (Feb 20).
“Others can approach the nearest hospital, clinics and district offices. We are accepting registration now,” he added.
He reminded the people against being approached by persons who claim that they can help register or send then the forms of registration.
“Do not approach anyone who claims he/she can help and do not give you identity card to them for fear of possible abuse,” he stated.
Uggah, who is chairman of Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), added that for those in rural areas, if they needed more clarifications, they could consult their local leaders.
“The vaccination programme is of utmost importance in our efforts to protect ourselves as well as to stop or control the spread of the infection.
“When we can protect ourselves, we can protect our families and our society. We can then start our economic activities to generate income and travel around,” he explained.
“We can also celebrate and socialise with each other. In short, we can go back to our normal routines,” said Uggah.
He hoped the people would not believe or be influenced by what they have seen or heard from social media claiming about the dangers of the vaccine and rejecting the vaccination.
On his visit to the lockdown operation centres, he commented that both centres were well organised.
“One of our concerns is the food aid distribution. Apparently, this too has been well organised,” he said.
Uggah was accompanied by Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian on the visits.
Around 370 people from 65 houses and 60 apartment units in Taman Univista and some 830 people from 182 families are affected by the lockdown which began on Feb 17 until March 2.
