KABONG: The frequent blackout problem in Kabong area will be resolved in the nearest time with the constructions of more than 300 new electric poles with the establishment of a second cable network.
Kabong State Assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said the problem of electricity supply disruption which often haunted the Kabong residents for a long time has been taken seriously and is now taking immediate action.
“We in this area hope that the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) will bring significant changes in upgrading the electricity supply services in this area.
“We also hope that the installation of the second cable network will take place immediately and is completed within a specified time frame.
“Therefore, the cooperation of the people who have their land involved as a cable route should give full cooperation and do not disturb the workers who work for that purpose later,” he said.
He was speaking at the Kabong- Roban Electricity Project Dialogue Session at the Kabong District Office Meeting Room yesterday. The dialogue session was also attended by heads of community and SEB staff headed by Tawie Ason. SEB’s representative Tawie Ason, said the works on new electric poles will be starting next week whereby the poles will be erected starting from Roban area. “Meanwhile, the construction of the electric poles will follow afterwards and this is expected to be completed within less than six months.
“New poles and cable installation will involve land and people’s plants. “The payment of compensation to the effected residents will be according to the set rate by the SEB and not based on their own price. We hope that people will cooperate and help to ensure the smooth running of the project,” he said.
The purpose of the dialogue was to inform the project’s implementation to the residents and to clarify some related issues before the project begins, added Tawie.
Also at the same time,it was to get people’s views and ideas on the project and to ensure that the residents were fully agreeable and would not interfere with the project’s progress.
“Upon complet ion of the project, the SEB will be able to overcome the frequent blackout problem in Kabong area,” he explained. “If no obstacle to the project, it can be completed in less than six months for a distance of 35 kilometres and involves over 300 new electric poles. “The agreement form will be distributed to the affected residents and they must sign the form,” Tawie explained.
