BAU: The construction of the new Bau District Office building, costing RM4.6 million, is expected to be completed by the end of April.

Henry Harry Jinep

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said because of the movement control order (MCO), work was halted.

He said the contractor extended the date of completion to July, but he requested that it be completed by April.

“We want the contractor to speed up construction — finish by April and get it operational by May.

“The building is 70 percent completed, and now at the installing of wiring system and furniture stage,” he told reporters at a face mask distribution programme here yesterday.

“Construction began well, only during the MCO, problems start arising. Most of the workers are Indonesians and they were not allowed in during the MCO,” Henry said.

The new building will also house the Bumiputera Court with Bidayuh architecture design, such as the baruk (head house).
