SIBU: The body of a foreign worker reported to have gone missing in Sungai Bidut after he fell from Jalan Tanjung Maling jetty last Thursday, was found this afternoon.

The State Fire Department operations centre disclosed that the body of Kyam Min from Myanmar, was discovered by the public around 10.50am.

Following the finding, a search and rescue (SAR) team was dispatched to the scene, at the bank of Batang Igan river, Rantau Panjang, about 30km from where the victim was reported to have fallen into the river.

The team retrieved the body and brought it to the control post for verification by the victim’s employer.

Last Thursday, the victim was reported missing by his employer. He is believed to have fallen into the river from a ship at the jetty at around 4.10pm.

Sungai Merah fire station deployed their men to the scene to commence search operation last Friday after receiving an emergency call around 11.20am.

The operation was joined by personnel from the police, Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB).
