KUCHING: Members of the public have been urged once again to register for the Covid-19 vaccination through the MySejahtera mobile application.
Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said although taking the jab is not mandatory, it is instrumental in containing the Covid-19 outbreak.
“It is not mandatory but we encourage everyone to take the vaccine. The state government is aiming to get all Sarawakians to be vaccinated,” he said during the ‘Kakya Tek’ talkshow programme aired on his official Facebook page on Saturday night.
Fazzrudin said once everyone had been protected and the Covid-19 immunisation programme had been executed successfully, the positive impact would be felt by all.
“We can once again visit each other and conduct sports activities but under the new normal. This is what I meant when I said the vaccine is a light of hope for us to win in the fight against Covid-19.
Fazzruddin said the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme covered three phases.
“The first phase involves frontliners and essential service. The second phase will involve the high-risk groups and the third phase, involving adults aged 18 and above.
“Apart from using the MySejahtera application, the public can also register at public health clinics or district offices,” he said.
Fazzrudin also reminded the public that refusing vaccination could impede their movement in the future.
“For example, Malaysia may introduce some sort of requirement once most of its people have been vaccinated. The requirement is likely be in the form of a health passport for visitors to prove that they have been vaccinated as a move to protect the locals,” he said.
