SIBU: A total of 150 of the 578 policemen and administrative staff of the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) in this division have received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said they would receive the second dose 21 days later after the first dose.

“Priority will be given to frontliners of PDRM while those who work in the administration will not yet receive their injections,” he said.

As for police members from the General Operations Force (GOF), Stanley said that the members were not under his management.

“The GOF commander in Kuching will arrange and look into the matter,” he said here today (March 5).

A total of 10,801 individuals and frontliners in Sarawak were given the first dose on March 2.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said of the total, 10,037 were health workers, while 764 others were from other departments or agencies.

On the Covid-19 situation, Stanley said two areas, namely the Sibu Jaya Flat and the Sentosa Phase II Resettlement Scheme, were still under the enhanced movement control order (Emco) and the situation was under control.

He said barbed wire fences had been installed in all seven blocks of Sibu Jaya Flat following the Emco extension from March 5 to 11.

Town Villa Flat and housing in Sibu Jaya were placed under Emco from Feb 12 to Feb 25 following the surge in Covid-19 cases in both areas.
