KUCHING: The Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for armed forces personnel in Sarawak was transported to six locations in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri today.

The First Infantry Division conducted an immunisation programme at six vaccination centres (PPV) statewide.

The centres were Kem Penrissen and 11 RAMD Kem Semenggo in Kuching, 13 RAMD Kem Pakit in Sri Aman, Kem Rascom and 3 RRD Kem Oya in Sibu and 20 RAMD Kem Sri Miri in Miri.

A CN325 Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) aircraft, piloted by Cpt Amirah Khan, was used to transport the vaccine to the three locations, and left Kuching at 7am.

At 7.55am, the plane arrived in Sibu and 171 vials were distributed to 1,026 recipients.

In Bintulu, 43 vials arrived at 9.20am for 258 recipients. A team from the 1 Medical Battalion (KKD) was mobilised to carry out the immunisation programme as there was no PPV in Bintulu.

Meanwhile, 81 vials arrived in Miri and were distributed at the Armed Forces Medical Centre (PPAT) at Kem Sri Miri where 486 recipients were inoculated.

The Covid-19 vaccine was distributed to the armed forces in Sarawak today. This particular batch is on the way to Bintulu. The other immunisation centres are at Penrissen Camp and Semenggo Camp in Kuching, Pakit Camp in Sri Aman, Rascom Camp and Oya Camp in Sibu, and Sri Miri Camp.
