MUKAH: More than 300 hawkers and small traders around here are urged to register as members of the Mukah Hawkers and Small Traders Association (PPPKM).
PPPKM chairman Norman Sudin said joining the association would facilitate the hawkers and small traders’ affairs in the future.
“The establishment of PPPKM is to unite and strengthen the bonds of goodwill, the spirit of cooperation and help each other in order to increase business opportunities among hawkers and small traders in Mukah.
“In this regard, various activities have been planned in the first meeting and among them are the weekly market, night market, beach market, courses and so on,” he told New Sarawak Tribune’s sister paper Suara Sarawak.
He added that in the meeting, Norhayati Noh was appointed deputy chairman; Abdul Mazed Abdul Gafor, secretary; Fadzillah Zaffarin, assistant secretary, and Zainuddin Budig, treasurer.
“PPPKM can create unity among members in Mukah who consist of various races and ethnicities. Besides that, it will also provide guidance to members on how to generate their economy in the future along with educating, training and guiding them in business management.
“Its establishment also aims to be a platform for members to make complaints about problems faced and act as a liaison between members and the government or the private sector for mutual benefit.”
The association currently has about 55 members and those who wish to sign up can contact Norman at 013-3456432.
