SELANGAU: Work to build the RM5 million Selangau riverbank (Tebingan Selangau) project is now progressing smoothly.
Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said the project was among the People’s Projects under construction in the constituency.
“The project is 67 percent completed and it is expected to be ready by June next year. It is implemented under the Sibu Rural District Council and supervised by consultants,” he said today.
He thanked the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government for approving the funds to build the Selangau riverbank.
He pointed out that the project would transform the landscape of Selangau town and provide a place for leisure activities in the district.
“Previously, construction was slightly disrupted due to the implementation of the control order movement (MCO) following the pandemic outbreak of Covid-19,” he added.
The construction of the Selangau riverbank was listed under the working visit projects of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to Selangau in 2018.
