MIRI: A 41-year-old local man from Jalan Pujut 8 here has been detained for allegedly raping his 18-year-old daughter on several occasions for the past four years.
The matter was worsened by the fact that he had impregnated his teenage daughter too.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the suspect, a divorced individual, was apprehended by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Miri at 12.40pm today.
According to Hakemal, the girl gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Tuesday in Miri Hospital at 6.48am.
He said the victim had gone to the hospital to give birth there, and when the medical personnel asked her about the boy’s father (so that they could fill it in the form), she confessed to them that her own father fathered the infant.
A police report was later on lodged.
Acting on the report lodged, police apprehended the man.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had been divorced from his wife since 2012.
“The girl (the victim) is the second child among five siblings, and all of them stayed with the suspect since the divorce,” said Hakemal.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 B of the Penal Code for incest.
