KUCHING: Yang di Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from outgoing Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Shahabuddin Omar today.

Mohd Shahabuddin retires on April 3 this year. He has served as the Federal Secretary in Sarawak since 2019.

During the courtesy call, he thanked Taib for giving him the opportunity to serve in Sarawak, especially in leading the federal government’s staff in the state.

When prompted about the spread of fake news on Covid-19 and the Emergency Ordinance (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) on social media, Mohd Shahabuddin reminded all civil servants in Sarawak to be careful in disseminating information.

He said references must be made to ensure the information was authentic as disciplinary action would be taken against those found spreading false information.
