TATAU: A total of 60 frontliners received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at Tatau Sports Hall today, during Tatau District’s first phase vaccination programme involving frontliners over two days (March 20 and 21).

These frontliners comprised Ministry of Health (MoH) staff members, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel, police personnel, district office personnel, and staff members from Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).

The first vaccine recipient was nursing assistant Uria Mering from Kakus Health Clinic, who was inoculated by Tatau Health Clinic community nurse Doriana Enggu.

The vaccination process went smoothly with the assistance of volunteers from the Social Welfare Department.

PBT II Jankey Jikat, chief of Tatau District Bomba station, was one of 13 Bomba personnel from the Tatau District Bomba station who were vaccinated today (March 20).

He said within half an hour of being vaccinated, he had not experienced any negative symptoms.

“I hope the community and the people of Malaysia will not be afraid to receive the vaccine as it is safe. It is our collective responsibility to break the Covid-19 chain,” he said.
