SIBU: The body of a man was found hanging under a house in Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku early Sunday morning (Mar 21).
District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, who confirmed the case, said the body was found around 4.05am.
“The victim, 21, was believed to have committed suicide as he was found hanging with a piece of wire around his neck under the house belonging to a friend.
“One of the occupants in the house, who is also the victim’s friend, was flicking through several sheets under the house to take his motorcycle out when he found the body,” he told.
Investigations found that the victim had no family ties with all the occupants of the house.
It was said that the victim used to go to his friend’s house to help take care of his friend’s grandfather who has a stroke and received a salary of RM300 per month.
Stanley added that the distance between the victim’s house and the scene was about 200 metres and that the victim would usually return to his home to bathe and eat before going back (to the friend’s house) either to hang out or spend the night there.
Paramedics and police found no sign of bodily injuries except for the wounds around the victim’s neck and there were no signs of a struggle at the scene.
Investigations also rule out foul play and police have classified the case as sudden death.
