SIMANGGANG: A road leading to Rumah Tuang suspension bridge over Sungai Labi at Batu Lintang in Undop costing RM200,000 will be completed on May 6.
Simanggang Assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has visited the project site to get updates on the progress as well as compliance with specifications set by the implementing agency.
“The suspension bridge costing RM265,000 has been completed but access to it was only a yellow dirt road.
“Therefore, after the road has been upgraded, many other facilities will also be provided for the longhouses people,” he said at the site on Sunday (March 21).
He also visited another upgraded road leading to a suspension bridge and Rumah Richard Bathing Jetty (now Rumah Jalie Tutong) Ijok at Batu Lintang in Undop costing RM200,000. The project was fully completed last Feb 22.
“This is a rural transformation project (RTP) of the state government utilising an allocation of RM5 million a year per assemblyman of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“On a Tuai Rumah who alleged that I was unfair in the distribution of allocations, does the Tuai Rumah think that he is being unfair to the government that appoints, pays allowances and provides infrastructure which is then said to be against government policy?”
“The issue of development is an issue of ongoing responsibility by the ruling government but if the government does not have a development plan, progress will not be achieved,” he said.
Francis also reminded the rural people to always be on guard against the Covid-19 pandemic which is still going on.
“Practice the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the authorities as they are part of the new norms of life to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
He also advised the public to register for vaccination through the MySejahtera application or register through their longhouse chiefs.
