KUCHING: Entrepreneurs in Sarawak need to utilise the use of e-commerce platforms to promote their products digitally.
International Trade and Industry, Terminal Industry and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) Assistant Minister Datuk Naroden Majais said new platforms such as e-commerce could provide multiple profits to entrepreneurs.
“Compared to conventional ways such as placing products in stores, advertising in newspapers and so on, promotions using digital apps are quicker in making profit.
“It is also in line with the state government’s policy to encourage entrepreneurs to use the digital economy to increase income in business,” he said during a press conference after officiating at Gigit Rangup Corporation Sdn Bhd’s opening at Metrocity in Matang today.
Naroden said, as an example, Gigit Rangup entrepreneurs are able to generate the first RM1 million in four years by promoting their products using social media applications such as Facebook.
“This year, they are targeting RM5 million in sales of their cookie products and this can be achieved by using an e-commerce platform,” he explained.
Naroden also encouraged entrepreneurs to study how to process their products, switching from the old conventional method to the new one.
“The use of fully automated machines or equipment in processing their products is capable of increasing production. When there are a lot of products, sales will be a lot and profits will be multiplied,” he added.
He also said that this new method was not only in Sarawak but throughout the country to encourage extensive use of online platform for their business.
