MIRI: Police arrested a 28-year-old local for stealing a stainless steel gate from a house in Tudan here.

The male suspect was detained during a raid on his house at Lorong Jati, Desa Senadin Phase 5 at 12.10am early this morning.

He later led the police to a bush near the traffic light intersection at the Asean Bridge, Jalan Kuala Baram where the stolen 18-ft long stainless gate worth about RM2,800 was kept.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the suspect, following questioning, admitted to stealing the gate together with two other accomplices who are still at large.

The suspect also admitted to have transported the gate using a Proton Saga car owned by the suspect’s accomplice.

According to a police report lodged by the complainant, he was earlier informed by a neighbour that the stainless steel gate of his house at Lorong Desaras, Tudan was missing. At the time, he was at his oil palm estate in Simpang Jawa, Batu Niah.

Upon receiving the information, he rushed home and found that the gate was indeed missing and he later lodged a police report.
