KUCHING: With the upcoming Sarawak state election, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) has begun to open its ‘dirty tricks box’, opined a political analyst.

Datuk Peter Minos pointed out that Malaya-based party continues to be very negative despite not doing anything for themselves.

He stated that the party has made big promises and pledges, but they did not do anything for Sarawak when they were previously in power.

“Sensing that the Sarawak state election is coming very soon with the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) expiring, DAP is going back vigorously to its old bad ways.

“They are opening their dirty tricks box, finding faults, digging dirt then hitting and attacking opponents at every turn.

“Non-issues become issues and small petty issues become big ones to the party. They are truly negative,” he said.

DAP Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen recently claimed that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has become a ‘kingbeggar’ as compared to a kingmaker during the formation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government early last year.

“They have condemned Sarawak as ‘bankrupt’ and now calling us ‘kingbeggar’, whatever that means. We can then rightly say that DAP is a party of ‘carpetbaggers’ because being Malaya-based, they come in and take.

“When they were in power, what did they do to Sarawak? Nothing, except cutting funds and projects meant for Sarawak, hitting Sarawak leaders at every turn, saying bad things, provoking Sarawak and giving no quarters,” Minos added.

He also said the party is truly irresponsible and unfit to rule and govern.

“Sarawakians are now in the full-known of the Malaya-based DAP after what they experienced when DAP was in power. It was bad and bitter. Sarawakians could not forget.

“DAP can shout and say whatever they want but nobody in Sarawak will ever listen except the few like-minded ones. But who cares? Who bothers about DAP?” he said.
