KUCHING: The Sarawak Land and Survey Department’s e-Lasis online platform, which makes it easier for people to obtain information on land related matters, has become an exemplary model for the whole of Malaysia.
“I believe our counterparts in Semenanjung Malaysia also take e-Lasis as an example,” said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said during a meeting with the department’s officers at Menara Pelita on Monday (April 5).
The platform enables people to obtain the latest information on land matters.
He said when e-Lasis was launched, he urged the Public Works Department (PWD) to adopt the same application and now that department also has its own online platform.
“I looked at their website and it is there. It is important for us to be able to see the stages of implementation of projects by a department,” he said, adding that such an approach should be emulated by other departments.
e-Lasis is an additional channel for the public to interact with and use the services of the Land and Survey Department. It extends its accessibility beyond its physical offices and beyond its normal operating hours.
Almost all of the e-Lasis services such as enquiries on land rent and premium are free, but some services require normal fees.
Abang Johari was very happy with the department’s overall performances and the services provided by its innovative and creative team.
“You are very practical people; you create outputs that are sometimes beyond imagination. Plus, you have also received awards for your excellent achievements.
“I must congratulate you. You have creativity, a good leadership and teamwork from the top leadership to the bottom. If you don’t have all these, you cannot move forward,” he said.
With that, he hoped that other departments in the state would learn from the Sarawak Land and Survey Department.
Later, the chief minister also launched a pictorial book entitled ‘Metamorphosis: Sarawak Land and Survey Department’s Evolution of the Culture of Innovation and Quality’ published by the department.
The book covers the department’s achievements and activities since 1994.
As a token of appreciated, Sarawak Land and Survey Department director Abdullah Julaihi presented to Abang Johari an iPad installed with the e-Lasis system.
