KUCHING: Amanah Iktihar Malaysia (AIM) plays an important role in improving the lives of the poor and low income people by financing their businesses.
The government has, so far, channelled more than RM1 billion (RM1.194 billion) in loans and grants through AIM to benefit these people.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim Rohani stated this when officiating the Kuching Branch AIM Ikhtiar Entrepreneurship Congregation held at Damai Central in Santubong yesterday She added that since its formation in 1987, AIM had proved its effectiveness in improving household incomes, increasing the number of micro entrepreneurs and reducing the national poverty level.
“Apart from that, AIM has been recognised at the international level. It has received the Best Islamic Microfinance Institution Award for five years straight (2013- 2017) bestowed by the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) Committee,” she said.
Rohani also hoped all the AIM members would continue to support and work with each other in achieving their objectives. “With that, I would also like to urge all of you to focus on positive matters and avoid negativity so that the association can continue to shine in the future,” she said.
