MIRI: Eight firemen from Miri Central fire station, successfully put out a bushfire near a Christian cemetery along the Miri-Bintulu Road yesterday’s morning (19 April).

The bushfire also happened near the Battalion 12th General Operations Force (PGA) Miri camp. 

“It was a small bushfire and our men successfully contained it from spreading further,” said Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.

The firemen rushed to the scene located about 3km from the station in response to an alert at 11.19am.

The operation to put down the fire started at 11.23am and ended 10 minutes later.

Currently, Miri City is affected by hot weather.
