BINTULU: The Bintulu Region 5 Marine Police Force (PPM) seized 42 logs worth RM16,800, discovered by the side of the road about 6.2km from the junction of Ladang Samling (Akasia) Sungai Sera, Samarakan on Wednesday (Apr 21).

Bintulu PPM Operations Headquarters Commanding Officer ASP Ezuandi Bahadin said seizure was carried out in accordance with the Forest Ordinance 2015 after receiving a complaint about the discovery of the logs, which was found to have no ownership mark as well as the Sarawak Forest Department mark.

Inspections on the logs found that they were felled, owned and collected illegally.

Ezuandi said representatives of PPM Bintulu waited in the area for about two hours, but no one came forward to claim the logs.

“The case was handed over to the Sarawak Forest Department Bintulu Division for further action,” he said, adding that no arrests were made during the operation.
