KUCHING: Only 10 percent of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel in Sarawak are allowed to take leave during the coming Hari Raya celebration.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said on-leave personnel would only be allowed to celebrate Aidilfitri in their respective district.

“They are not allowed to travel to other districts as inter-zone travel ban is still being enforced.

“This also applies to those who are on duty in Peninsular Malaysia because interstate travel has not been approved,” he stressed.

Aidi told the media this at the presentation of ‘Sumbangsih Raya Gawai’ goodies at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

On another note, he clarified that compounds for those who violated Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) could also be issued by other agencies.

“PDRM is not the only agency that can issue the compounds as other agencies have been granted the authority by the Ministry of Health.

“There are several surveillance and monitoring teams in every district conducting inspections to see if there are any parties who violate the SOPs,” he said.
