KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) wants those in the area to pay their assessment rates for the year despite sending out notices to many who have not done so. Chairman of MPKS, Dato Peter Minos expressed the council’s disappointment on those who have yet to pay and said that stern actions would be taken against late payers.
He added that the council would be persistent in chasing those who continue to ignore any notices. “MPKS depends on up to 90 per cent of these assessment rates collections to fund our operations and if the people don’t pay, we won’t have financial resources to collect rubbish, fix the roads, and provide other services,” said Peter during a press conference at the MPKS library here on Wednesday.
The residents of Samarahan are reminded to pay their assessment rates before December 29. Payments can be made at the One- Stop Counter at the MPKS office or through Paybills Malaysia. Peter also disclosed that MPKS can be reached through WhatsApp at telephone number, 013-8561116 as it is easier for Samarahan residents to get in touch with them.
“This allows us to take immediate action should we receive any complaints by sending our staff to investigate the complaint at the given location. If the issue is verified, we will take action,” he said.
He added that every complaint should be accompanied with the full name of the complainant along with their address, location, and picture to support the complaint. Peter reminded the residents that the complaints should not be personal, political, or racist in any way.
