MIRI: A total of five compound notices with a fine of RM1,500 were issued by the city council (MCC) enforcement team to business operators for defying standard operating procedures (SOPs) imposed under the current conditional movement control order (CMCO).

In a statement today, MCC said its enforcement team comprising enforcement personnel and Public Health officers carried out the operation on Wednesday night after 10.30pm.

“This follow-up operation was carried out with due attention to monitor the business operators, as to whether or not they have complied with the SOPs which require all business activities to cease after 10.00pm,” they said.

They said the operation covered business premises under the jurisdiction of MCC, including eateries as well as bars and bistros in commercial areas such as Boulevard Commercial Centre, Bandar Baru Permyjaya, Tudan, Senadin, Morsjaya Commercial Centre, Tanjong Lobang, Marina ParkCity Phase 1 & 2, Miri Times Square, and Miri Pelita Commercial Centre.

“For the sake of the safety of the Miri community during the current Covid-19 pandemic which is still at a worrisome stage, MCC would like to seek full cooperation from all business operators to adhere with the SOP imposed by the authority,” they said.
