Trio arrested after house break-in

MIRI: Police have arrested three men for allegedly breaking into a house that was being renovated at Jalan Tanjung Batu here last Thursday (Apr 29).

District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the break-in incident was realised by the complainant’s worker around 8.30am.

After being alerted, the complainant, 34, rushed to his two-storey bungalow and found some items missing and some damaged.

“A police report was immediately lodged after the complainant found out that several bathroom items and kitchen items were missing.

“The break-in caused the complainant an estimated loss of RM6,000,” said Hakemal

The next day (Apr 30), a Miri police headquarters (IPD) Task Force managed to arrest three men, aged between 18 and 24, in an operation dubbed ‘Ops Pintu’.

Hakemal said the first two suspects were caught at 12.10pm around the bushes at Jalan Katong while, the third suspect was arrested in a house at Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau at 12.35pm.

He added that some of the stolen items were recovered during the arrests.

All three suspects have been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
