KUCHING: The State Welfare Department has allocated more than RM200 million for its various welfare schemes this year.
Minister of Welfare, Community Well – Being, Women, Family, and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah told a press conference this after the briefing on the State Welfare Department Strategic Plans 2018-2020 at Petra Jaya here yesterday.
According to the Minister, 58,081 people will bene f i t from the allocation under the federal as s i s tance s chemes such as Chi ldren Assistance (Bantuan Kanak-Kanak), Elderly Assistance (Bantuan Orang Tua), Disabled Workers’ Allowance (Elaun Pekerja Cacat), and others, State Government Assistance Scheme such as the General As s i s t anc e (Bantu an Am) , Youths’ Assistance (Bantuan Belia Beliawanis) and others, Disaster Assistance and Economy Development Grant.
Touching on the briefing, Fat imah explained that the department had focused on three st rategies, namely, Develop Excellent Capacity (Bina Kapasiti Cemerlang), Increase Impact Programmes (Tingkatkan Program Berimpak), and Increase Impact of Strategic Cooperation (Tingkatkan Kerjasama Strategik Berimpak).
“These strategies will enable the depar tment to realise its vision of becoming a high performance welfare agency and achieve its mission of improving the well-being of the community at the end of 2020,” added Fatimah.
