KUCHING: Sarawak has many ongoing issues that have yet to be resolved and drastic actions must be taken, said outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
“There are many issues in Sarawak. I want to apologise if I have not been able to go (to Sabah and Sarawak), it is because of Covid-19.
“I know that in Sarawak, there are a lot of issues about integrity. It is not that I have overlooked. I know, I realised that something drastic has to be done.
“Something is not right there (Sarawak). Too many… smuggling, online gambling, immoral activities,” he said during his last press conference as IGP last Friday (April 30).
He therefore hoped that the leadership of the police would pay close attention to the issues.
“God willing, Acryl Sani (incoming IGP) will do something,” he said.
Abdul Hamid said that he could not visit Sabah and Sarawak due to the Covid-19 and had also informed Sarawak ministers on the matter.
Abdul Hamid was appointed the IGP on May 4, 2019 and his contract will end on Monday (May 3).
Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani will take over as the 13th IGP from May 4.
