KUCHING: Members of the public can now watch out for online scams via a special portal as well as using the Semak Mule mobile application.
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Kuching Office chief Mohd Irman Mohd Din said the special portal can be accessed via https://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule/. The Semak Mule app can be downloaded from Google Play.
“This special portal and application are proactive initiatives by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department to prevent the community from becoming scam victims.
“Consumers only need to enter information such as a bank account number or phone number to identify the scammer,” he said on Sunday (May 2), adding that it is important for the community to check the account or phone numbers before making any transaction to avoid becoming victims of fraud.
Mohd Irman added that the community should also be extra vigilant while making transactions, especially when doing purchases online on Facebook, WhatsApp or any online platforms.
