KUCHING: ASTEEL Group, a subsidiary company of YKGI Holdings Berhad, recently paid a special tribute to over 300 of its employees in conjunction with the Labour Day celebration.
The homegrown Sarawak company, in a statement on Monday (May 3), said 300 food packages and dates were distributed to employees in all its branches, factories and Envio concept stores in both East and Peninsular Malaysia.
“The distribution of food is a gesture of goodwill to thank our employees for their hard work and contribution to ASTEEL’s growth as well as success today,” it said.
ASTEEL’s group managing director Datuk Seri Victor Hii Lu Thian also said the contribution was to show appreciation to the employees.
“We appreciate our employees for helping us achieve many milestones despite challenging times. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their dedication and hard work in contributing to ASTEEL’s growth, they are and will always remain the backbone of our company.
“To further commemorate International Worker’s Day, we are also committed to upskilling our current workforce with skills of the future,” he said.
The building material company also reiterated its commitment to create 1,000 jobs for Malaysians with its expansion plans, said ASTEEL’s group human resources director Ir Michael Hii.
“As part of ASTEEL’s Master Plan, we are set to provide gainful employment to Malaysians in the next five years, and positively impact the country’s labour market.
“We are also committed to equipping our current workforce with the skills that are essential for our company’s growth as we expand our operations around Borneo and beyond,” he said.
ASTEEL Group is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in December this year.
