KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 620 Covid-19 positive cases today, bringing the state’s tally to 32,667.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 64 percent of the new cases were detected in Bintulu, Miri, Kapit, Sibu and Bukit Mabong.
Bintulu accounted for 128 new cases; Miri (82); Kapit (81); Sibu (55); Bukit Mabong (51); Kanowit (42); Sri Aman (27); Belaga (26); Kuching (18); Beluru (16); Lundu (12); Subis (12); Saratok (11); Tebedu (10); Song (seven); Pakan (six); Sarikei (five); Sebauh (five); Tatau (four); Betong (four); Selangau (four); Bau (four); Mukah (three); Meradong (two), Dalat (two), Tanjung Manis (two) and Serian (one).
“A total of 416 cases were individual screened from having close contact to Covid-19 cases while 140 cases were individuals screened from active clusters.
“There were 32 cases who were symptomatic individuals screened at health facilities and another 31 cases were from other screenings at health facilities. There was one Import B case reported involving an individual returning from other states in Malaysia,” SDMC said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, 364 cases had recovered and discharged from various facilities.
“Of the number, 117 were from Sibu Hospital and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) Sibu, Bintulu Hospital and PKRC under Bintulu Hospital (85), Sarawak General Hospital and PKRC under Sarawak General Hospital (58), Miri Hospital and PKRC under Miri Hospital (44), Kapit Hospital and PKRC under Kapit Hospital (21), PKRC Mukah (16), Sarikei Hospital and PKRC under Sarikei Hospital (13), PKRC Betong (four), PKRC Serian (three), Limbang Hospital (two) and Sri Aman Hospital (one).
“This brings the number of Covid-19 cases who have recovered and discharged to 26,152 or 80.06 percent from the total number of cases in Sarawak,” SDMC said.
The committee also said that 6,252 active cases are still being isolated and treated at PKRCs and hospital wards.
“Some 620 persons under investigation (PUI) have been recorded and none are awaiting their laboratory results,” SDMC added.
