BINTULU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu Maritime Zone, in collaboration with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Gas, today (May 4), presented 81 food baskets to the local fishing community around Kampung Baru Laut Bintulu in conjunction with Ramadan.

Acting director of Bintulu Maritime Zone, Maritime Commander Effendy Mohamed Fadil said the “Sumbangan Iklhas Ramadhan” programme, held for the second consecutive year,  was supported once again by  corporations such as Petronas and EPOMS.

The food baskets were distributed to people with disabilities (OKU), single mothers and senior citizens from the local fishing community.

Bintulu MMEA also distributed leaflets on “Safety Campaign at Sea” to recipients who fished as part of their daily activities.

This initiative is part of MMEA’s efforts to make fishermen aware of  safety while at  sea.

It also reminded the community to continue complying with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the virus.
