ASAJAYA: No open house is allowed during Aidilfitri, and celebrations can only involve immediate family members.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah gave this reminder during a bubur lambuk distribution programme organised by Persatuan Mencegah Dadah Malaysia (Pemadam) Sarawak at the An Najah Mosque here today.
The Asajaya assemblyman added that the Aidilfitri standard operating procedures (SOPs) only applied to activities within a zone, as cross-district travel is prohibited.
“What this means is that if a son wants to visit his mother in Sibu, it is not permitted.
“However, if you want to return to the kampung, apply for permission from the police, there is no problem. This needs cross-district approval.”
Abdul Karim said areas subject to the conditional movement control order (CMCO) must still follow guidelines set for the area.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee decided to allow Aidilfitri to be celebrated for seven days.
Guidelines and SOPs could be obtained from the website of the Sarawak Islamic Council (https://mis.sarawak.gov.my).
Meanwhile, 600 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to the community here.
“This is an effort by Pemadam to brighten up the Ramadan month and also educate the community on the dangers of drug abuse,” said Abdul Karim, who is also Sarawak Pemadam chairman.
