KUCHING: Assistant Minister of ECommerce, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and his entourage are currently in China for a week-long working visit. He aimed to visit the world’s largest collection of products in Shanghai as well as to promote business opportunities to entrepreneurs or investors from Shanghai.
Naroden and his entourage were welcomed by the Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Wu Xingbao at the latter’s office in Shanghai.
Speaking during a welcoming celebration of the entourage from Sarawak, Wu said that local or foreign companies were encouraged to supply food products to be sold in Shanghai as the food consumption was extremely high. “It enables the citizens of Shanghai to have a variety of quality food and fruit products. “This also allows the traders to offer competitive prices,” he added.
Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Entreprise (SME) Development as well as Gedong Assemblyman also led his entourage to visit the Department of Communications of Shanghai Economic Services Centre. They were welcomed and briefed by the Director of Shanghai Federation of Industry & Commerce of Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, Frank Feng.
During the briefing, Feng revealed that the Shanghai Federat ion of Indust r y & Commerce of Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce has around 80,000 members in Shanghai which covered various business sectors from big companies to small businesses under the auspices of the body.
It is the perfect platform for Sarawak to look for entrepreneurs in establishing business links with entrepreneurs in Shanghai and China in general. In addi t ion, Frank also invited entrepreneurs from Sarawak to participate in the first International Expo Export Import in Shanghai in early November 2018 and to participate in dialogue sessions with Shanghai entrepreneurs which are held every year.
During the visit, Naroden invited related agencies from China, especially Shanghai to come to Sarawak to see for themselves opportunities Sarawak can offer to Shanghai entrepreneurs. Naroden and his entourage also visited a collection centre and some leading e-commerce firms in Shanghai.
