51 compounds issued over CMCO SOPs breach

KUCHING: Police have issued 51 compounds to individuals for failing to comply with conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Monday (May 10).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded the most with 38 issued, followed by Serian (six), Bau (three), Dalat (two) and Bintulu (two).

“The violations include failing to practice physical distancing (40); premises operating past the allowed time (seven); not using face masks (three); and failing to provide a reasonable excuse for being out (one).

“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 6,442.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued 42 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council recorded the highest compounds with seven; followed by five each under Padawan Municipal Council and Miri City Council; four each under Sibu Municipal Council, Sibu Rural District Council and Maradong and Julau District Council; three each under Marudi District Council and Kapit District Council; two each under Subis District Council and Serian District Council; and one each under Lundu District Council, Dalat and Mukah District Council and Lubok Antu District Council.

SDMC added that the businesses violated SOPs such as failing to update record books (26); failing to enforce face mask usage (seven); failing to scan the MySejahtera app (three); failing to enforce practice of physical distancing (two); did not prepare hand sanitiser (one); did not prepare temperature scanner (one); operating past the allowed time (one); and operating without permission (one).

This brings the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 358.
