BALINGIAN: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi recently presented grants totalling RM60,000 to more than 18 surau and mosques in the Balingian district.

Among the surau were Surau Darul Ibadah, Kampung (Kg) Sungai (Sg) Alo, Surau Sheikh Sulaiman, Kg Jebungan, Surau An-Nur, Kg Teh, Mukah, Surau Al-Muhajirin, Kg Tabo, Mukah, and Surau Darul Islam, Penaku.

Mukah Resident Hamdiah Bakir and Mukah District Office representative Ismail Kasah were present.

Abdul Yakub said that he would continue to carry out his responsibilities as an assemblyman responsibly for the common good and the development of the citizens.

Kg Teh thanked him for his attention and devotion to the people of Balingian region; Rapaiee Jaimin Yahya, a member of the Surau An-Nur Committee in the village, received the donation on behalf of the surau.

Abdul Yakub also advised the people not to go to crowded places, such as malls, in order to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“If we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t take care of anybody else, including our own families,” he said.
